Project

Portrait galleries of historical personages are an indispensable resource for uncovering the past. While the paintings carry the heraldic marks of eras long gone, not all the depicted emblems and signs are authentic and made their way to the canvas over the centuries. A team of art historians, fine art restorers and other specialists has to peel away layers of time and reconstruct history as it actually happened, not as its winners necessarily wanted it to be remembered by future generations.
.........Along with identifying a previously unknown work of art from the Dutch master Frans Luycx and other early Baroque painters in the Wallenstein collection, Pavel Blattny and his team placed into historical context aristocrats who formed Czech and European history. See the project catalogue for more information.
